“A theatrical experience that is unconventional, well executed, and extremely entertaining.”

The Rocky Horror Show is a musical with music, lyrics and book by Richard O’Brien. A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1940s through to the early 1970s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist, Dr Frank N. Furter, unveiling his new creation, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man named Rocky Horror, complete “with blond hair and a tan”.
Atomic Vaudeville was thrilled to be the production house behind Victoria’s 2016 production of The Rocky Horror Show – having taken the reigns from RKO Productions. A cult favourite, this show has a level of audience participation and energy that you don’t often see in live theatre. We brought it back again in 2017, 2018, and 2019 to an incredible reception, having built upon the foundation of previous years, to make a production that continued to evolve and grow in ways that could be surprising for a musical that’s decades old. Ultimately a show about acceptance, sexuality, and humanity mixed with Sci-Fi B-Movie tropes and heart stopping musical numbers, this show is a perfect fit for the spectacle that Atomic Vaudeville is known for.

“Production/Set/Costume Designer Jimbo (Ru Paul’s Drag Race) brought a very clear and specific aesthetic drawing from drag, speakeasy, burlesque, circus, and cabaret sensibilities, fusing them all into one very specific and immersive world.”
